Professor Xiaoyan Song is the Director of the Key Laboratory of Advanced Functional Materials, Education Ministry of China. She was awarded “the First Prize of Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award” once and “the Second Prize of Municipal Natural Science and Technology Award” four times. She has published over 380 papers in peer reviewed journals and has over 90 authorized international and domestic patents. Some of her patents have been industrialized and led to more than 20 kinds of high-grade products. For example, the advanced cemented tungsten carbides developed by her group, which simultaneously possess high strength, toughness and wear and corrosion resistance, have been mass produced and applied in high-end engineering.
She had been appointed as the Associate Editor of the International Journal of Refractory Metals and Hard Materials since 2013, and was elected the Co-Editor-in-Chief in 2024. Meanwhile, she has served as the committee member of several international and domestic academic societies including International Stereology Society and Image Analysis (ISSIA), Chinese Society for Stereology (CSS), and Chinese Materials Research Society (CMRS).
